Applications & Advantages

Its primary applications are as an ideal fertilizer for fertigation and foliar application, serving as a highly efficient source of potassium and sulfur for plants, which helps improve nutrient uptake and plant physiological functions, and is particularly effective in alleviating chloride toxicity in sensitive crops, making it suitable for alkaline and calcareous soils where other sulfur sources may be less effective; it also acts as a chelating agent for micronutrients, enhancing their availability, and is used in specific foliar sprays for micronutrient delivery. In industrial applications, its primary use is as a photographic fixer to dissolve unexposed silver halides, but it also finds roles in water treatment (such as dechlorination), the pulp and paper industry, textile industry, and as a reducing agent; in agriculture, besides direct fertilization, it is incorporated into some formulations for specific nutrient management purposes. A key advantage is that it is generally free of chloride and sodium, making it suitable for sensitive crops, and it is relatively stable under recommended storage conditions.
